Synopsis/outline of video: I have chosen an instrumental electronic dub-step track Dimension 7 by Eptic, due to this there are no lyrics in the song just small sections of speech called statements. This means that the video will be narrative based to give the song a story thus providing the music with a more meaningful and detailed storyline. I will also include concept based sections of video which consist purely of motion graphics created in Adobe After Effects.
My production will be set in a post apocalyptic world in which robots have destroyed civilization, the main plot of the video will be based around an unknown survivor who possesses special abilities such as being able shoot fire from his hands. This survivor is trying to escape earth but is being chased down by the robots, from this scenario I hope to create a dramatic, action packed fast paced music video. I will create a build up of tension using cinematic's of the environment with the tilt camera angle methods and establishing shots of the area and fade in from black, I will then introduce the main protagonist and antagonists as the musics pace increases. During the statement I will cut to my own space fly through scene similar to this video but with more camera shake and making sure that the edit cuts hit the beat, the video will be fast paced throughout but will match the musics intensity.
When choosing a model for the antagonist I will be looking for features such as red eyes, large dark metallic frame, weaponry and evil facial expressions to give the audience an understanding to who the antagonist is, to emphasize this effect I will use camera angles that make them look powerful and dangerous such as the low angle shot which makes character look large and more threatening to the viewer.
My human protagonist characters costume will be designed to look rough and tattered e.g a Dark green trench coat with a hood and gas mask and large military boots. I've decided to use a gas mask because I want the audience to feel detached from this character, to further demonstrate the characters loneliness.
Target Audience:
The target audience I have selected for my music video is the teen/young adult audience interested in dub-step music and sci-fi, particularly those whom follow artists such as Eptic. This is due mainly to the type of the song and the VFX that I am hoping to portray. I feel that this age group works well due to the fact that the video contains themes that younger audiences may find upsetting and older audiences uninteresting. This target audience will also allow me to get greater feedback on my video as people who would be interested in VFX and dub-step are usually quite passionate about these videos and love to make suggestions and provide constructive criticisms.
